When I started planning this party I knew that I wanted to have it at the local lake. The park is so peaceful and the party pavilions have some beautiful views of the lake. I was going for a very upscale picnic vibe and started picking up pretty crystal serving pieces, dainty cake plates, vases...everything would be champagne, pearls & feathers, it would be beautiful!!
Then I got a letter from the Dept. of Parks & Recreation stating that there couldn't be ANY glass used at the pavilion!!!
So on to plan B~ Kati's rustic chic celebration... lavender, brown, and green...

We had a gorgeous day to celebrate my daughter's First Holy Communion. A little humidity to start, which in no time at all was replaced with a cool lake breeze and sunny skies! : )
~I made lots & lots of sugar cookies
These bird seed bird feeders were made using a recipe found here~ Intimate Weddings
I hung a few as decorations and gave away larger, flower shaped bird feeders tied with lilac twine as favors.The cake was a vanilla butter cake with butter cream icing, covered in fondant. I made the little communion cutie on top out of fondant.
These purple flowers are actually hair clips that I made as favors for the girls. I found a tutorial on line for these & really wish I'd saved the link so I could give proper credit to them. It was actually pretty easy once I stopped burning my fingers! {I cut lots of circles out of silk, used a lighter to seal the edges, I used hair clips bought at a local beauty supply shop & hot glued the finished flowers to the clips.}
Have you seen these GIANT marshmallows? They make such a great treat dipped in white chocolate. I sprinkled these with sugar crystals and tied a little ribbon on each one.
These mini flower pots are just too cute! I was originally going to make regular sized cupcakes until I found these at A.C.Moore. I love all things miniature. {You can draw whatever you'd like on them with chalk, I was heart happy with this party xo}...I don't have a clear pic. but the back 3 flower pots are sitting on a little green bench. : )
Thank you for stopping by! And a HUGE thanks to everyone who was a part of making this day so special!
